Moon in the 1st House: A Tender Heart

November 11, 2016 Susannah Meel 5 Comments

As someone with your natal Moon in the 1st house, your sensitivity is on the surface for the world to see. With this placement it is hard to hide one’s emotions, and you may feel as if though you are transparent. Your inner self can be attributed to the ever-changing ocean tides as you are directly affected by the lunar phases in the sky. This sort of emotional turmoil can be easily detected by a single peak into your beautiful watery eyes. Although the Moon, which is one of the most sensitive and private points in the natal chart, feels a little uncomfortable out in the open of the 1st house, it is still embraced as part of one’s identity and may give off the vibe of a nurturer or healer.  It might bless you with emotional intelligence and a great capacity for empathy. You may notice that people are often drawn to you exactly for this reason. You may also notice that sometimes your emotional reactivity comes from a purely subconscious level and reflects the vibes of other people around you instead of your own.

Since you emotionally filter everything through your Moon sign, you experience and see life from a sentimental and romantic perspective. However hard you try to guard your tender heart, you still carry it on your sleeve. The lovely thing about this placement is that others are able to see the warmth of your heart this way, even when you are completely torn or broken down inside. Your ability to connect with the suffering of other beings is your strength and your most admirable quality. In worst cases you might become an emotional sponge who completely absorbs the energy of a particular place or person, which later leaves you drained and exhausted. With a placement such as this, it is important to remain mindful of that and to ground oneself from time to time in order to avoid falling ill.

The Moon in this house takes on a subtle Cancerian quality, and shows in your outward mannerisms and appearance. As the 1st house also reveals what kind of impression you leave on others, the Moon here means that you are able to touch people emotionally. You leave a lasting emotional impression. The Moon in the 1st house can be a sign of popularity as well, and plays an especially important role in your childhood and in your relationship with your mother, including other women. It is possible that your childhood experiences will strongly affect the rest of your adult life too.

You are easily moved by the sound of emotive music, words that reflect inner feelings and other forms of artistic or poetic expression. An intuitive approach is natural in most situations as you are able to read people. Your interests might be changeable – when you don’t feel like doing something, you simply won’t, and vice versa. You are known for following your heart, and others feel comforted by your caring and affectionate touch. You, on the other hand, might feel comforted by the night itself if the Moon is well-placed in the chart. If afflicted, the night might be a time where you feel most vulnerable and prone to paranoia or depression. Great care should be taken to ensure peaceful sleep and calmness. With the Moon placed in this house you might be strongly psychic and have a long history of seeing prophetic dreams.

“The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”

    Hi there….

Nice article. I came across it while researching my relocated astrology for one potential location that has my moon (in Aries) in the 1st versus a second location where my moon is in the 10th in Cap. I only use sidereal astrology as I see absolutely no point whatsoever in making analyses that reflect something 1500 years ago, but not the conditions that existed when I was actually born.

    By the way, Susannah…. you’re gorgeous. 🙂

Yessss this is me 100%. My moon and my Ascendant in my 1st house and both in Scorpio. My Sun and Venus are in my 1st house too (in Sagittarius) Vedic. In the Tropical my moon and Asc are in Sagittarius, Sun and Venus in Capricorn but I resonate completely in Vedic. The Tropical never defined me and I didn’t believe in the total accuracy of Astrology until 1999 or 2000 when I learned of Vedic. Now I’m a believer because reading my descriptions liberated, validated and emotionally made me see myself in my own true light.

Thank you so much for sharing this article. I agree with the things mentioned here, because I have Moon in my Ascendant. Even my Ascendant and Moon-Sign is same that is Virgo.
